Ultrasonic welding of thermoplastic parts is accomplished by applying high frequency vibrations to the piece being assembled. The vibrations, through surface and intermolecular fricton, produce a temperature raise at the joint place. When the temperature is high enough to melt the plastic, there is "Flow" of material between the parts. When the vibrations stop, the materials solidfied under pressure. |
